Faith Rises Through Difficulty

By Ptr. Jireh ManiegoAugust 26, 20261 min read

Faith begins in the mind, takes root in the heart, and becomes visible through our hands, and difficult days make it stronger.

The story

Faith rises through difficulty, not when life is easy.

“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” (Colossians 2:6–7)

Faith begins in the mind: we choose to believe who Christ is and what He has done. But faith cannot stay in the mind; it must reach the heart. What the mind believes, the heart learns to trust: because Christ is Lord, I can trust Him, and because I trust Him, I choose to live for Him.

When faith takes root in the heart, it reaches our hands. Gratitude overflows, and faith becomes visible through prayer, service, forgiveness, love, and obedience. These three belong together.

Faith is not a choice we make once and move on from; it is a walk we choose every day. That walk will not always be easy. There will be questions that unsettle what we believe, seasons that test what we trust, and moments when following Jesus costs us something. Faith is not forged in the comfort of easy days; it is strengthened by the weight of difficult ones.
